In this webinar teachers will:

  • Review the content presented in a hands-on creative workshop, with a focus on economics and personal finance.
  • Discuss the costs and benefits of “going green” during the holiday season.
  •  Explore the concept of the value of using three children’s picture books to teach economics and personal finance.
  • Relate the concepts of productive resources, goods, services, opportunity cost, entrepreneurship, and decision-making as they pertain to both the wreath-making and the featured picture books.
  • Examine the provided lessons and activities provided to support the presented material.

Description

The first part of this session features the economic lessons learned during a wreath making workshop. The second half will showcase three picture books, along with support materials, that tell stories of the process of growing trees to market during the holiday season. The titles include “The Christmas Farm” by Mary Lyn Ray, “Christmas Tree Farm” by Ann Purmell, and “A Simple Christmas on the Farm” by Phyllis Alsdurf.
