Time: 60 mins,
Presenter: Gabriel Tanglao
Objective
Teachers will be able to:
- Engage in dialogue with colleagues to share best practices, strategies and techniques that create safe learning spaces for students to engage around challenging conversations around race and equity.
- Learn a facilitation model of “hosted conversations” to create more inclusive student-driven classrooms.
Standards
In this webinar, explore questions around issues of inclusive pedagogy and curriculum within Economics & Social Studies classes.
Description
We will begin the dialogue with a mini-lesson on the Community Cultural Wealth framework by Dr. Tara Yosso, to introduce the concepts around cultural capital.
In addition, we will use a “World Cafe” protocol in the virtual space utilizing breakout rooms for rounds of small group conversation, and an opportunity for sharing the most valuable takeaways with the larger group. Through this process, we will bring to the surface the collective expertise in the room directly from the classroom practitioners.
