Description
Chapter books featuring topics such as payday loans, undocumented individuals, food insecurity and credit card debt can be used to teach meaningful lessons concerning economic themes and real life issues. Titles featured include “Merci Suárez Changes Gears” by Meg Medina, “Crenshaw” by Katherina Applegate and “Front Desk” by Kelly Yang.
Investigate scarcity, cost- benefit analysis and comparative advantage in ways that engage older students by touching on current events, diversity and various challenges faced by different communities.
